Oxib' ri nim ja
Three family lines represent the Three Great Houses of the Popol Wuj: Kaweq, Ajaw K'iche', Nija'ib', each of which sends an author to record the text according to their own particular histories. Each linage goes on to have its own sublineages and royal houses. Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: n721) observes that "Nim Ja (Great House) may refer to both a large building or palace, as well as the lineage to which it was dedicated. In this case, the reference is to the lineage, since the three great houses were quartered in only two buildings.
