Solapas principales
Conforme al lingüista k'iche' Sam Colop (2008: 195n333) el nombre del sexto oficio de los Kaweq, Popol Winaq chi T'uy "probablemente era el 'ministro tesorero' como dice Recinos (1953: 231)."
Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: 270n744) translates Popol Winaq chi T'uy as "Councilor of the Stacks," formed the by the roots "Popol Winaq (Mat Person)," meaning "the head of a ruling or deliberative council, the unity of the council being symbolized by the interlaced reeds in a woven mat," and T'uy, which refers to “a 'stack, pile.'” This latter term is likely a reference to tribute. It is common in scenes depicting throne rooms on ancient Maya ceramic vessels to see stacks of tribute in the form of textiles, bark paper, exotic feathers and skins, cacao beans, etc."
