Uch'ab'aja

Los Uch'ab'aja son uno de los 13 pueblos aliados con los Rab'inaleb', Kaqchikeleb', Tamub' e Ilokab', entre otros. El profesor k'iche' Sam Colop (2008: 137n209) explica que "Los Uch'aba ja, 'los de la casa de las flechas', han de ser los padres originarios de los Chavajay, que ahora habitan en las orillas del lago de Atitlán."

Anthropologist Allen J. Christenson (2007: n517) explains the etymology of the Uch'ab'aja lineage, one of the 13 Tribes aligned with the Kaqchikeleb', Rab'inaleb', Tamub', Ilokab', and other pueblos. Uch'ab'aja "could be 'House of Arrows' (based on ch'ab'), or 'House of Speech' (based on ch'ab'al). These also settled somewhere in the Sacapulas valley (Recinos 1950, 171 n.6). Fox suggests that their principle settlement was the site of Pacot, approximately nine kilometers west of Sacapulas at the far edge of the Sacapulas Valley (Fox 1978, 84-87)."
